Welcome and Words of Thanks!

To family, friends and all who may find our blog.

First we say thank you to all of you have been a part of making this adventure.

Thanks to our friends in Bend who helped with our moving out of our house, cleaning and making it ready for others to rent. Thank you to all our friends and family for letting us crash in your spare bedrooms and feeding us during our whirlwind "drive before we fly" trip through the Pacific Northwest.

Thanks to Mrs. Dennis, Mrs. Laufer, Mrs. Harrell, and all the great staff and classmates at Eastmont Community School for making Joel and McKeely's early departure from school so special.

Thank you to all the staff at NZLocums for guiding us through the registration and immigration process.  Thanks for correcting my errors in the immigration paperwork so that we could stay!  Kerry you have done a great job for us.

Thanks to my colleauges at Northwest Emergency Physicians and Silverton Hospital Hospitalists for allowing me to leave.  Thank you to all the staff at each hospital for your words of support and encouragement.  Thanks to Dr. Eschelbach for inspiring to me to make flushing a toilet my first task upon arrival here!  I will look for some New Zealand ED Darwin Award winners for you.

Thank you to our family who are taking care of our affairs in the states while we are here.  Without you providing our foundation, we would not have the courage to take on this adventure.  We miss you, and look forward to your visits.

Our plans are to share in a variety of styles through this website.   It has been nearly a month since we "said we would start a blog".  So now that it is up and running, we will get started on a backlog of pictures and experiences during the initial journey.  We hope that with myself, Kim, Joel and McKeely each posting on occasion, that we can share experiences with a variety of people through this one blog.  We look forward to hearing from you.

Cheers from our first blog post in NZ!
